Divine Beauty Evening Reception

On Thursday 9 November a special evening was held in the cathedral to launch our ambition to conserve the stained-glass windows.

We were delighted to welcome the Lord Mayor and people from across the city to share the significance of these remarkable treasures.

With heartfelt speeches from Bishop of Birmingham, David Urquhart and The Dean of Birmingham, Matt Thompson, along with welcome from Anna Pitt, Lay Chief Executive and Jane McArdle, Heritage Manager, guests enjoyed music provided by Birmingham Conservatoire , and a glass of wine. Guests were encouraged to share their ideas and support of the project.

Highlights of the evening were a two special performances by the girl’s choir of Birmingham Cathedral, accompanied by David Hardie, Acting Director of Music and the first viewing of the short film about Divine Beauty, kindly funded by History West Midlands.

The film can be seen here .....

A flavour of the evening is here....
